Compare pulling force, not lifting force

For RP cylinders, the pulling force required must match the catalogue figure. A generic filter label such as lifting force would be misleading here. The product comparison therefore distinguishes pull and push cylinders by their intended force direction.

Usable pulling travel and the assembly’s initial length determine whether the cylinder fits the design. Mounting parts and extensions must also be included.

Connections and mounting are part of system design

The catalogue lists RP25 and RP55 along with extension rods for certain mountings. This association does not establish unrestricted interchangeability with accessories from other cylinder series.

The pump must suit the single-acting hydraulic circuit and oil requirement. A unit’s ability to reach the same maximum pressure does not establish the appropriate valve function and controlled return flow.

A useful enquiry

Describe what is to be pulled or tensioned, how far the component must travel and how forces will be transmitted into the structure. A dimensioned sketch is particularly useful for pulling applications.

• How will both ends of the cylinder be connected?
• What pump and control valve are already available?
