Locking-collar cylinders: RGL, RGP and selected R and RA models

The mechanical function is part of the cylinder

RGL cylinders are described in the catalogue as having a mechanical locking collar. Selected R and RA versions and the low-profile RGP cylinders also have a corresponding design. Their function is tied to this construction.

A holding valve does not turn a standard cylinder into a locking-collar cylinder. Selecting a suitable solution for the load and planned holding period is part of system selection.

Check height, stroke and return

A low-profile RGP may be useful where installation space is limited, while other series cover different stroke and force ranges. Table values must be checked for the specific model. Clearance for the saddle, collar and connections also forms part of the space assessment.

Return action is not the same across all series: the catalogue describes load return and spring return, among others. The pump and controls must match the selected version.

No blanket approval for a load

Load per point, support area, required lifting movement and planned support duration are useful enquiry details. The manufacturer instructions for the specific version remain authoritative for use; a catalogue overview does not replace engineering of the load support.

Important for your enquiry

• How long must the load remain supported?
• What initial height and stroke are available?
• What support and load conditions apply at each point?
